since i posted pictures of malachi's other two birthday parties in california, i figured i should post some pictures from his party here in ohio.
we had such a fun time with friends from our church. we tried to keep it very low-key so we just did an ice cream party at the park where the kids could play on the playground and the adults could visit or play in the big field next to the play ground. the Lord could not have given us more prefect weather. i think it was in the 70's and breezy. we set up the party under some trees, next to the creek, and we got the best breeze the whole time we were there.
we had ice cream with lots of toppings and instead of gifts we asked that people consider bringing a pack of diapers to donate to the local crisis pregnancy center. we collected LOTS of diapers - which the ladies at the center were so grateful for! and we had tons of fun! here are some of the cute pictures of malachi eating his cupcake (yes, i did get him one cupcake just to he could have the typical "cake all over the face pitures" although he did much better about keeping it clean this time around! ;) ha!)
the breeze was so strong we couldn't even get the candle lit - so we had to "pretend" ;)

jeff and i got him this car that he sits in and we push. he loves it! and it was a huge hit at his party! :)
grammy kk sent a pool and pool accesories. he was kinda timid of it at first but then he warmed up.
he just needed daddy with him to feel secure ;)

overall i think his party was a success! we may not do parties every year but i think the first birthday is definitely one to celebrate! :)
